Here are your frequently asked questions with all the answers:

Invitation to participate?

Represent the ILoveBoobies Charity for October, International Breast Cancer Awareness month. Use your sport as a platform to raise awareness for educating, empowering, and screening disadvantaged South African Women for Breast Cancer. Each one of us has been touched by breast cancer. Participate for those who can’t, participate in someone’s honour. Make your month count for more than yourself.

Where is it being held?

Participate wherever you are, you may be training at home but participating in an event away from home, all your activities count.

 What is the Imagine challenge?

The Imagine Challenge is a month-long virtual challenge from the 1st of October until the 31st of October. Enter via the website, where after we will send you an invite to join our Strava club challenge/s. The Imagine Challenge choices are the following:

  1. 42.2 kilometres of running
  2. 500 kilometres of cycling
  3. 10 kilometres of swimming
  4. 24 hours of Gym/Crossfit 

You can do 1 challenge or a few of them, or all 4. You can do an entire challenge at once, or over the time period of the whole month. All the relevant activities you collect for the month will count towards your goal.

Ways to complete a marathon distance

  • 1 x marathon 42.2km e.g., Cape Town Marathon (16 October)
  • 2 x 21km half marathons
  • 4 x 10.5km
  • 8 x 5.25km or even walk just 1.36km per day

Ways to complete 500km cycling

  • 1 x 500km
  • 2 x 250km
  • 4 x 125km
  • 8 x 62.5km
  • 12 x 41.66km
  • 24 x 20.83km

Ways to complete 24 hours of Gym/Crossfit/HIIT/Pilates

  • 1 hour every day – 2 days rest per week in first two weeks
  • 1 hour every day - 1 day rest per week in the next 3 weeks

Ways to complete a 10km swim

  • 2 x 5km
  • 4 x 2.5km
  • 8 x 1.25km
  • 16 x 625m

You get the idea –Imagine running a marathon, swimming 10km, riding 500km or challenging yourself to become fitter and stronger – everyone can, with enough time, so here is your chance, even walking just 1.36km per day will get to 42.2km in a month. 

How do I log my activities?

 

  1. Sign up with Strava it is free. Sign up here : https://www.strava.com/register/free. You must register with Strava to be in this event.
  2. Once you have registered with us, we will send you an invite to the Imagine Challenge Club, this will log and track all your activities and you will be able to see who else is competing and how you are doing.

Must I have a Garmin or Smart watch?

Ideally, if you have one, great, it makes keeping track of your distance and time much easier.  You can automatically sync your smart watch to Strava. If you don’t have a smart watch you can manually upload your activities to Strava. This event is based on honesty, if you submit false results the only person you are cheating is yourself. Be a lekker human!  One lucky participant will be taking home a GarminVivo Active 4S smart watch sponsored by Garmin. 

What is the entry fee for the month-long Imagine Challenge?

R295 entry fee includes a goody bag with signature 2022 limited edition ILoveBoobies socks, lovely goodies from our sponsors and a medal for the first 500 people that enter, the digital management of the challenge, digital race numbers, digital finishers certificate and entry to the weekly prize draw and grand finale prize giving. Your entry includes a donation towards a breast cancer screening.

Free Shipping to metropolitan areas in South Africa. Outlying areas attract shipping surcharge. International orders shipping is charged by our carrier DHL.

Is there merchandise for sale?  

Yes, we have a premium quality Breast Cancer Awareness Tee-Shirt and Buff combo for R290, as well as our online store which is packed with all the gear you may need for your activities. Remember when you purchase anything from ILoveBoobies you are part of the socially conscious apparel movement. The free screening program is funded by the sale of merchandise, event entries and donations.

Can anyone participate in the event?

Absolutely, register for the event, there is no age limit or time restriction to complete your activity each day. The only limitations you have are the ones you set for yourself.

I have signed up and paid, what happens now?

Plan your month, set those goals, whether it is to get fitter (you will) or stronger (you will) or raise awareness for breast cancer (you will) - find your purpose. IMAGINE it because you will achieve it. Challenge some friends to do the same, surround yourself with people to challenge you, push you and motivate you.

How does the prize-giving work?

This event is a mass participation, feel good event, there are no "winner winner chicken dinners". All prizes are awarded on a lucky draw basis only.

Each week we will do a lucky draw prize giving at 18h00 on Sunday evening featuring one of our great sponsors.

i.e : 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd of October.

Grand Finale prize giving will take place at 18h00 on 31st of October on Facebook and Instagram

What is in the Goodie Bag?

When will I get my Goodie Bag?

The Imagine Challenge Goodie bag will be dispatched from the 23rd of September 2022 onwards. We would love to see your photos with your tattoos on your calves and wearing your new merch. No matter when you entered, even on the last day in October, your goodie bag will still be shipped to you.

Are we getting a race number?

Yes, you will be emailed a digital race number on the 30th of September – Print it out or keep it on your phone.

Are we getting a race medal?

Yes, the first 500 entries get a medal.

Are we getting a certificate of participation?

Yes, – we will email you a link at the end of the month for you to upload your final numbers (don’t worry we will show you where to find all your stats on Strava) and your favorite photo. Your certificate will be sent to you a few days later. 

How does my participation make a difference?

By staying healthy and active you stand the best chance of preventing cancer. By talking about ILoveBoobies and wearing our merch you create awareness for Breast Cancer and how important it is for women to regularly check their breasts. Breast Cancer is most prevalent of all cancers. ILoveBoobies provides FREE breast screenings to women who face economical or logistical challenges in South Africa. Proceeds from the sale of merchandise, donations and your entry fee are used to fund the screening programme.
