The ILoveBoobies team went to Douglas Green Bottling in Wellington, Western Cape. The nursing sister on-site, Sister Harris, allowed us to make use of her clinical room, and on such a cold morning, it was very welcome. There were 35 women and 4 men. Breast cancer in men is far less common but can still occur. Our nurse, Sister Gail du Plooy consulted the ladies in groups of 5, explaining the process of the screening to each lady and informing them of the warning signs of a breast abnormality to them. Each lady was examined by Sister Du Plooy and they left the screening with the knowledge of how to screen themselves, that they had a trained professional nurse taking care of them and a pair of ILoveBoobies socks to remind them to check their breasts once a month going forward.

Just one of the ladies screened was referred to SCP Radiology for further investigation.
